Understanding the Challenges

Infant and maternal health are crucial aspects of public health that demand immediate attention. Our focus is on tackling the barriers that lead to poor health outcomes among mothers and infants. These challenges include limited access to healthcare services, disparities in health education, and socioeconomic factors that affect overall well-being.

Our Efforts

EquiCareConnect is committed to addressing these issues by advocating for better healthcare policies, providing educational resources, and supporting initiatives aimed at reducing disparities. We collaborate with healthcare providers, community organizations, and policymakers to create a comprehensive approach to improving maternal and infant health.

What is New in the Maternal and Infant Health Initiative

Beginning in May 2024, the Maternal and Infant Health Initiative (MIHI) launched a new webinar series focused on key drivers of poor maternal health outcomes. Topics include:

Maternal mental illness is the leading cause of pregnancy-related deaths in the U.S., and substance use during pregnancy poses significant risks. Uncontrolled hypertension is preventable but remains a major concern. The new initiatives aim to tackle these issues through a series of webinars and affinity groups.
